Children's Department Programs & Events
The following is an overview of our regular programs and may be subject to change. Read our monthly newsletters or pick up a printed calendar (available at the library) for up-to-date information each month.
Registration
Please stop in ahead of time or call 244-5541 to pre-register for our programs. You can also register by clicking the links on our online calendar.
Preschool Programs
We have several regular programs for your younger children. Preschool Story Time meets twice a week: at 10:00 AM on Tuesdays and at 4:15 PM on Thursdays (the same program is done both days). Lapsit/Toddler time meets Tuesday mornings at 10:00 AM (same as Preschool Story Time) and is for babies and toddlers. "Tickles, Wiggles, and Bounces" (for children 18 months to 3 years) meets on the third Monday of every month at 10:00 AM. Cre8tive Preschool Art Time meets one Monday a month (usually the fourth Monday) at 10:00 AM.
Art Programs
We regularly have art classes with local artist and author Joni Walker. There may be a small charge for these classes. We also offer regular arts and crafts free with our Preschool Story Time, Cre8tive Kids classes, and Craft Saturdays.
Cooking Programs
Our Cooking 101 class for kids and teens meets on the third Monday of the month at 4:00 PM.
PBS Kids Go! Writers Contest and PPL Writers Contest
Every spring the Peabody Public Library participates in the PBS Kids Go! Writers Contest for kids in Kindergarten through third grades and also holds a PPL Writers Contest for kids in fourth and fifth grades. Our 2013 contests are over now, but you can come back and check this spot next year for information on how to enter.
