Internet Use at the Peabody Public Library

The Peabody Public Library has over 30 combined computers and laptops available for public Internet access.

The Peabody Public Library also provides free wireless internet access throughout the library during library hours. A library card is not necessary to connect to the library wireless network.

Wi-Fi

To connect to the library's wireless network, follow the instructions below, then launch your browser of choice to connect to the Internet.

Windows 7

  1. Click on the Windows Logo at the bottom left of the screen (formerly "Start")
  2. Go to "Control Panel"
  3. Click on "Network and Internet"
  4. Under "Network and Sharing Center" click "Connect to a Network"
  5. In the "Connect to a Network" window "PeabodyWireless" should be visible
  6. Select "PeabodyWireless" and click "connect"

OR

  1. Open Connect to a Network by clicking the network icon in the notification area (lower right portion of screen).
  2. In the list of available wireless networks, click to select “PeabodyWireless,” and then click Connect.

Windows Vista

  1. Click Start -> Connect to.
  2. Click “PeabodyWireless” once, then click connect.
  3. If you want to start this connection automatically for next time click on "save this network"

OR

  1.  Click start -> Settings -> Network connections.
  2.  Double click on “wireless Network Connection” -> Double click on "PeabodyWireless"

Windows 2000 or XP

  1. Click start -> connect to -> wireless network connection.
  2. Click “refresh network list” on the left hand column.
  3. Click “PeabodyWireless” once, then click connect.

OR

  1. Click start -> Settings -> Network connections.
  2. Double click on “wireless Network Connection” -> Double click on "PeabodyWireless"
