Today's Events

Teen Programs & Events

The following is an overview of our regular programs and may be subject to change. Read our monthly newsletters or pick up a printed calendar (available at the library) for up-to-date information each month.

A.C.T. (Awesome Council of Teens)

This youth advisory board is designed for teens, 6th grade and up. The purpose is to create programs for the teens with the teens. The A.C.T. meets on the first Monday of every month at 5 PM in the Teen Services area. This is your opportunity to make you voice heard, to create programs and events that interest you, to socialize and much more. If you are interested in being a part of the A.C.T., you may call (260) 244-5541, stop by the young adult department, sign up online, or simply come to a meeting.

Family Movie Night

The Young Adult Department presents a series of films that will delight the entire family and encourage parents and children to enjoy and discuss these current movies. During Summer Reading Program, these movies will be held weekly, as follows.

  • June 13: The Hobbit
  • June 20: Godzilla
  • June 27: Gnomeo & Juliet
  • July 11: Holes
  • July 18: Jurassic Park
(For more movies at the library, see the Adult Department's "Dark City Movies" list and the listing for the Friends' Monthly Movies.)

Discover Teen Literacy with Figment

Are you a writer? Want your book to win contests? Well, you’re in luck. The library is offering you the opportunity to publish your own book and review other books through an online service called Figment.

So, what is Figment? Figment is a community where you can share your writing, connect with other readers, and discover new stories and authors. Whatever you're into, from sonnets to mysteries, from sci-fi stories to cell phone novels, you can find it all here.

This program is offered on the second Monday of each month at 4:30 PM. It is completely free, so what do you have to lose? Give it a try, bring your friends and start writing today.
