Outreach Services

Our Outreach Services extend the library’s resources and programs to the community through various efforts.

Mobile Library

The Peabody Public Library Mobile Lab brings the library to you! Check out, return, or request library material at these locations. We can even issue library cards on the spot!

  • Tri-Lakes Lions Club: Beginning on March 22, the mobile library will be returning to TriLakes Lions Club. The Lions have been very supportive by letting us use their facility to bring materials and a hotspot to the building from 3-5 PM every Tuesday afternoon. We can bring materials that you want to check out, collect materials that you wish to return and our hotspot will allow internet access for those who don’t have it at home. Please stop by and browse our materials or use the internet – or just say Hi!

Mobile Tech Lab

Beth Gaff takes technology outside the library.

  • Brew'ha: Alternating Tuesdays from 6 - 7:30 PM and Wednesdays, 11 AM — 1 PM. Please check online calendar for details.
  • Senior Center: Fridays, February 12 & 26 at 1 PM
  • Grace Lutheran Church: Wednesday, February 17

Wait & Read

Each week we maintain a quantity of books at several business locations within Columbia City. These locations include Bowen Center, BrewHa, Dr. Hatcher's office, House of Style, Parkview Whitley Hospital (main lobby), Quality Inn, Senior Center, Shear Envy, Super 8 Hotel, the Whitley County Courthouse (third floor waiting area), and the Whitley County Jail. The books are available to anyone who visits these businesses, with no restrictions on return.

Every six weeks Peabody Public Library delivers bulk quantities of books to four assisted living centers in Whitley County: Blue River Senior Citizens Apartments, Clugston on the Square, Oak Pointe and Sycamore Village.

Homebound Delivery

Each Thursday, weather permitting, we deliver materials to patrons who are unable to visit the library. If you would like to be included in this program, please call Peabody Public Library at 260-244-5541. A valid Peabody Public Library Evergreen card is required in order to enroll in this program.
