Dear Community- 

In our continued efforts to serve the community the best way possible, we will be undergoing some remodeling during the last part of the year. This project will make multiple improvements to the building that will serve the community well into the future. 

Improvements include: 

• New entry – We will be removing the current free-standing office in the Adult Services area. This will improve patron sightlines as they enter the building and make the space more accessible and welcoming. We will also be replacing the tile at the entrance and top of the stairs with walk-off carpet to address acoustic issues and reduce slip dangers. 

• New service point – The current workroom removal will allow for a highly visible service point for your Circulation and Reference needs. 

• Dedicated Hold pick-up – We will be closing off the current Circulation Desk for a staff workroom. This will allow for easy access to shelving for patron holds. 

• New family restroom – We will be adding a new family restroom to the Main level located within the Youth Services area. This means parents no longer need to leave the department to take their children to use the restroom. 

• New caregiver room – We will be adding a room where caregivers can go to nurse/pump, change a diaper, or soothe a restless child.  

These improvements will take time and stir up a mess. At the beginning of this project for safety and timeliness reasons, we will be closing off the Main level and move to a limited services model starting September 14 and expected to end October 19. During this time, we will continue to serve the community by providing patrons with access to the lower level via the wetland side of the building. On the lower level, patrons will be able to access computers, print, copy, and fax. They will also be able to pick up holds, browse a limited collection, read current newspapers, and attend programs. Patrons will also be able to pick up holds via curbside pickup. 

We ask the community to be understanding during this time as we all adjust to the limited services. One key will be for patrons to place holds for their materials as browsing the stacks will not be possible.
