Job description:
Come work with this wonderful team as we strive to connect with the Whitley County community and provide them with a wide variety of services, programs, and events. The Assistant Director will help to lead the Peabody Public Library in new and exciting ways. The incumbent will work under the direction of the Executive Director to provide excellent service to all library patrons and the community in multiple ways. This work will include overseeing the Library’s programming efforts, collection development, outreach efforts, and the day-to-day activities of the Adult Services Department. The incumbent will also assist with multiple functions within the library such as reference interviews, readers advisor, and quality customer service, strategic planning, evaluation, and statistical analysis. Job Requirements
•Master’s degree in Library Science or related field of study and the ability to obtain and maintain an Indiana Library Certification LC2 or higher.
•Ability to work a mix of days, evenings, and weekends.
•Successful applicant will have a proven track record of leadership, team building, programming, and customer service skills.
Location:
This is an in-person position. The library is located on Highway 205 and US 30 next to Parkview Hospital. Peabody Public Library sits on 14 acres that includes wetlands providing a beautiful backdrop to your workday.

Volunteer at Your Library
Volunteers at the Peabody Public Library perform very important functions including assisting with programs/crafts, maintaining shelf order, clerical work, repairing materials, and more. Volunteers are assigned to activities according to their interests and skills. Training is provided as needed.

We will be happy to work with your schedule to set up days and times. Begin the process by filling out a Volunteer Application Form below. If you prefer, an application can be picked up at the circulation desk or the Youth Services Desk.
SEA410 requires all volunteers ages 18 and over to undergo a criminal history check before volunteering at the Peabody Public Library.
